Sergio Martinez is Still Being Held Back By Injuries

Former WBC super welterweight and middleweight champion, Argentinian Sergio ”Maravilla” Martinez, wants a farewell fight but his injuries are hampering him.

“I want  to keep boxing, but this injuries are complicating even my daily life. I only will fight if I feel better,” commented  Sergio  during an interview by TyC Sports of Argentina.

Sergio is now dedicated to the artistic world, and sadly the dream of having a farewell fight is receding.

“My meniscus are crashed. I have to wear insoles on my shoes to walk correctly, and not to feel pain. So Far now I can't go back to train. I want  to  keep boxing, but these injuries are more complicated than we expected. During the next weeks I think I will be able to make a decision. I don’t seeing myself in the ring without being in the best possible shape to face a good rival. Honestly, I am not interested in another way, as  I don’t want to be disrespectful to my fans."

It was obvious that Sergio Martinez was no longer the same when he stepped into the ring that night against Cotto.

[QUOTE=paulf;15587636]No champion of his caliber wants to go out losing like he did to Cotto, but it's time to be real: he hasn't been 100% in a long time. [B]Not to take anything away from Cotto, he deserves full credit…

Sad to see a great champion have these injuries

Sergio must not have seen the gif of him running for 2 seconds in the cotto fight. His knees were perfect in the fight. He's still faking over a year later!
