Sergio Martinez Admits Pressure To Retire After Cotto

WBC middleweight champion Sergio "Maravilla" Martínez (51-2-2, 28KOs) is looking closer at retirement, from the rough and tumble, wear and tear of boxing. Martinez defends his belt against Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs).

And that's precisely why his family is asking him to soon call it a day.

“My mother doesn’t want me to continue boxing and her decision and thoughts are very important for me. But...for the time being I’m fully focused on Miguel Cotto. Then I’ll make a decision,” he pledged.

“There are many chances that I will retire if I beat Cotto” he said during an interview.

This fight will take place on June 7th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Martinez wants to retire from boxing with a great victory and leave a memorable boxing career embossed in the pages of history.

“I can’t regret anything in boxing. It's given me everything! if I retire I want to do it in a great way” he stressed.

I wonder if Martinez would really face GGG or actually move down to jr. middle to face Mayweather or even a catch weight fight with Manny. That would be good for him considering he is up there in age. It…
