Selby: Warrington is Emotionally Attached To Me, He's a Mark

IBF World Featherweight Champion Lee Selby believes that Josh Warrington is "just another mark, another opponent".

On Saturday night, the Leeds Warrior stopped Dennis Ceylan to become mandatory challenger for Selby's belt.

The all-British clash has been discussed for around 18 months and the fight could finally be made early next year.

"I will definitely be fighting him," Selby told BBC Wales Sport. "He is just another mark, another opponent, but I think he's got emotionally attached to me. I will give him an educated boxing lesson...and then move on.

"We will definitely be fighting in the early part of next year, if I am right then I think we need to fight by the end of March," he revealed. "I will be fighting in December, a fight will be announced shortly and that will make it three fights this year, which is perfect for me, that's the right amount."

Since beating Evgeny Gradovich to become Champion in May 2015, the Welshman has fought in the UK three times, defending his belt twice against South Americans Fernando Montiel and Jonathan Victor Barros.

"The Warrington fight will be a big fight, he's created some sort of rivalry, he doesn't like me very much, but I'll come through the fight with ease," he predicted.

"All he keeps going on about is Lee Selby this, Lee Selby that, even his dad, who is his trainer, was mentioning me during his last fight! But to me, he's just another challenger."

On Saturday night he tweeted that Warrington would be "easy work", but the Barry boxer agrees that a showdown with Warrington would do big business in Leeds.

"The next two fights will be in the UK, where I fight Warrington will depend on the purse bids. He wants it in Leeds and it probably sells best there."

I'm big on Selby but Warrington looked elite after his slow start. I spent the whole evening discrediting his KO power then come fight night he made me shut my mouth.

[QUOTE=R_Walken;18161107]AJ - won his strap from the weakest champion ( Martin ) and the unification fight was just given because it was a big fight. Klit didn't have the WBA Degeale / Jack - great fight made because of Haymon…

I don't think Flanagan or Selby have milked their titles. I doubt either are rich. They're just not particularly well followed fighters and have had some drab fights. I am certain either could have been taken over to fight in…
