Scott Quigg Retains: Saunders, Smith Win Decisions

Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside - WBA 'regular' super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over a game Hidenori Otake (22-2-3, 9KOs). The scores were 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110.

Quigg controlled the action and piled up the points, but the Japanese challenger -who suffered a bad cut around his right eye in the tenth - came on strong in the final three rounds with a major rally. Quigg held him off and fought him on even terms until the bell.

Making his debut as a Matchroom fighter, welterweight prospect Bradley Saunders (11-0, 8KOs) won an eight round decision over Ivans Levickis (13-15, 12KOs). The referee's sole score was 60-54. Saunders dominated the action but couldn't put Levickis away.

Super middleweight Vincent Feigenbutz (17-1, 16KOs) stopped Olegs Fedotovs (18-18, 12KOs) in the seventh round.

With the WBC International super middleweight title at stake, Callum Smith (15-0, 11KOs) went the twelve round distance for the first time with a unanimous decision win over his toughest opponent to date, Nikola Sjekloca (28-3, 8KOs). The scores were 118-111, 120-108, 118-110. Smith had some bumps in the road during the contest, but he hurt Sjekloca in the fourth with a bodyshot and then outboxed, outworked him to the final bell.

someone with quick feet will trouble quigg, otake isnt bad but he doesnt have the speed at range...someone with a quick double jab then quiggs overhand right wouldnt have a chance to land, to be fair otake rolled with it…
