Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is overwhelmed by the massive reaction to the upcoming mega-bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs), which takes place on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Showtime Pay-Per-View will carry the fight.

Schaefer's company has been involved in several big pay-per-view events - including the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Mayweather, which generated a record 2.5 million pay-per-view buys.

The show sold out quickly. The gate is going to be a record-breaking figure of over $19.5 million dollars. Even though the show is sold out, Golden Boy's office has been flooded with phone calls from fans, and many celebrities, who are trying to obtain tickets.

"I've never, ever seen the kind of buzz for any fight that we've done, and we were involved in the biggest fight of the last ten years. I can't remember any fight where there was this kind of hype. Usually you have the press tour and the hype begins. And then it dies down a bit and when you get closer to the fight it picks up again. With this fight here - nothing is dying down. Everybody is talking about this fight.....it's insane," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.

"The celebrity requests are unreal. Another indication on when you have a big fight is when celebrities call and they don't ask for comps - they want to buy tickets. You have A-list celebrities from music, sports and entertainment [calling and asking to buy tickets] and I can't accommodate all of them....it's impossible."
