Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that his team is currently working on finding an opponent to step in to face IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander on May 18th in Atlantic City.

Alexander was scheduled to face his mandatory challenger Kell Brook but he was forced to pull out of the fight with a foot injury. The fight had previously been scheduled for dates in January and February but postponed because of injuries as well.

Alexander's fight will still be the Showtime televised co-feature underneath the Lamont Peterson-Lucas Matthysse showdown.

Schaefer provided BoxingScene with a list of names under consideration to face the three time champion Alexander:

"There are a few names we are looking at. We were looking at Provodnikov but he is unavailable. We are looking at maybe Senchenko, maybe Shawn Porter, maybe Andre Berto. We are going to see what we can do. We are also working  with the IBF. I think with all these things going on Brook may have to be removed as the mandatory for the IBF because you can't keep doing this. I feel bad for him but I think he might have to fight an eliminator because Devon Alexander cannot wait anymore. He has to move on with his career," Schaefer stated.
