Saunders Taunts Chris Eubank Jr. Over Possible Rematch

By Chris McKenna, courtesy of The Daily Star

BILLY JOE SAUNDERS has taunted Chris Eubank Jnr by claiming his rival goes to sleep every night knowing he lost to him.

The Hatfield fighter bids to become a two-weight world champion when he faces Shefat Isufi for the vacant WBO super-middleweight title tomorrow night.

But he refused to rule out a rematch with bitter foe Eubank Jnr in the future.

The pair met at middleweight in 2014 when Saunders earned a close points win.

But now they’re both up at [168-pounds] and a possible repeat has been mooted.

Saunders, who went on to win the WBO middleweight crown after his win over Eubank Jnr, would be open to the fight but he is not desperate for it.

The unbeaten Hertfordshire man said: “Do I need his business? No. Would I take it? Yes. I can go to sleep at night knowing that I beat him. But he goes to sleep, thinking about that loss on his record.

“I think of the 27 wins. I don’t care if I never fight him again. My main goal is to be the best I can and to fight the best.”

WBA super-middleweight champion Callum Smith will defend his title against Cameroon’s Hassan N'Dam at Madison Square Garden on June 1.

The fight will be chief support to Anthony Joshua’s WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF heavyweight clash with Andy Ruiz Jnr.
Not sure what you mean by that (slow, painful death). Saunders just got a belt and is back on the rise. If guys are willing, he's got some super solid opportunities out there, totally irrelevant to what Eubank does. I…
Eubank Jr. should be targeting David Benavidez Jr. or Caleb Plant first! Get a Belt (easier said than done), then unify with the highest bidder!
So you got Benavidez overcoming Dirrell this year ? That's what I'm looking forward to.
Saunders career is dying a slow, painful death which is really sad as he is a massive talent. Eubank on the other hand already a two weight IBO World Champion... I'm pretty sure they will fight again, because to be…
