Samuel Vargas Ready For Errol Spence at Barclays

Lee Baxter Management (LBM) is proud to announce the return of three of its fighters, in three different cities.  On Saturday, April 11, LBM's welterweight standout Samuel "The Bull" Vargas (20-1-0, 10KOs) of Mississauga, Ontario, will face undefeated American Olympian Errol Spence Jr. (15-0-0, 12KOs) under the bright lights of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, in a highly anticipated ten round clash. Vargas has won five in a row, including a fifth round stoppage of Flavio Turelli his last time out. He is a multiple division Canadian champion, wearing both the welterweight and super welterweight crowns at various points in his career.

"Sam is ready for the next step in his boxing career," explained manager Lee Baxter. "A lot of people consider him an underdog in this fight, but he's the type of guy no one should take lightly."

Across the continent, LBM lightweight Mario Perez (15-6-4, 9KOs) of Mexico City via Toronto, returns to action in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to face rugged journeyman David Aucoin (3-12-0, 1KOs) over six rounds or less at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. Perez is looking to battle his way back into title contention after suffering a tough loss to recent world championship challenger Dierry Jean last year. After a thorough training camp, Perez is ready and reinvigorated for a strong campaign in 2015.

"Mario took some time away from boxing after his last fight to focus on getting settled into Canada and call it home," said Baxter. "Now that that's done it's time make some noise. He wants to fight the best at 130lbs. So this fight is to shake off the ring rust. He wants Logan McGuinness before the end of 2015, so we will fight whoever is put in front of him to get there."

Last, but certainly not least, LBM super middleweight prospect Shakeel Phinn (1-0-0, 1KOs) of Brossard, Quebec, makes his much anticipated return in a four rounder against Roody Rene (0-2-1) at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City on the undercard of Stevenson-Bika. Phinn exploded onto the Canadian fight scene in January, stopping the more experienced Eddie Gates via fourth round TKO.

"I didn't even think twice about signing up Shakeel," explained Baxter. "He's the real deal. He works hard in the gym and has the natural ability to go very far. By the end of 2015, we want Shakeel to be in the national title picture. It's a tough division, but I know he can hold his own."
