Salka Confident: If I Lose To Danny Garcia - It's an Upset!

By Bill "Two Scoops" Emes

"Lighting" Rod Salka (19-3, 3KOs) will have a tall mountain to climb on Saturday night, when he faces WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia in a ten round non-title fight from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The fight will headline a Showtime televised tripleheader.

Very few people are picking Salka to pull off a huge upset. Salka is very confident and believes that Garcia is the actual underdog in the matchup. Garcia's father and trainer, Angel Garcia, wants his son to blow Salka out in a few rounds. Salka promises that will never happen.

"I want to prove that I'm the number one guy in the world. I have to be at my best and be at my best for 36 minutes," Salka told BoxingScene.com. "It's never going to be [a pushover fight]. It would have to be a major, lucky thing for me to get upset. For me it's an upset if I lose this fight. It truly is. I really believe with all my heart that I'm going to go in there, be at my best, have a great fight and there is going to be no doubt at the end of twelve rounds on who the winner is."

Guys, just make sure you don't pay a cent to watch this fight. Otherwise, Haymon and his over-protected fighters will keep giving us garbage fights. Just find a way to watch it for free.

Whoever decided on this opponent as being a good idea, was indeed a goofball. Maybe they saw the low KOs and thought it was needed after the beatings Garcia has taken lately. No matter the outcome, Garcia will not look…
