Ruslan Provodnikov Breaks Ivan Popoca in Eight Rounds

By Mark Vester

At the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California, junior welterweight Ruslan Provodnikov (19-1, 12KOs) returned to form. He knocked down and then stopped Ivan Popoca (15-1-1, 10KOs) in eight rounds, snapping Popoca's undefeated run. Ruslan gets his second win after the upset decision loss to Mauricio Herrera in January.

Lightweight Marvin Quintero (22-3, 18KOs) stopped Juan Santiago (13-7, 8KOs) in the third round. They didn't waste time in the first round and started trading bombs with very little defense. In the third, Quintero started landing some big shots on Santiago against the ropes. The referee jumped in to stop it, but it seemed to be a bit too quick.

Provodnikov made improvements since the last time. Can't wait to see him fight again.
