Roy Jones: Sergey Kovalev Should’ve Finished Hopkins

by David P. Greisman

Roy Jones is in his third camp with Jean Pascal, who challenges three-belt light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev this Saturday night in Montreal. While Jones has said he’s been working on Pascal’s stamina, there are other ways the former champion has improved.

“Grown a whole lot,” Jones said. “A lot of ways: maturity, patience. Patience is the biggest factor I’m bringing. That’s the biggest improvement he’s made.”

Kovalev, meanwhile, is coming off the biggest win of his career, a dominant decision over Bernard Hopkins.

Jones feels that Kovalev should’ve been able to do even more.

“He didn’t finish Hopkins,” Jones said. “Maybe he not the Krusher that he supposed to be. He should’ve finished Hopkins — maybe.”

I don't think Kovalev tried that hard to KO Hopkins. I think he had great respect for the legendary Hopkins was content to get the win but didn't want to humiliate Hopkins with a KO loss. I am going with…

If we are all honest with ourselves we know Hopkins could be 90 years old and still be too crafty, skilled and wily to avoid getting knocked out. RJJS was world class but once he slowed his weak chin was…

[QUOTE=animalfan10;15464002]Kovalevs fans are so dumb and annoying....I'm almost hoping Pascal knocks his ass out just to shut up these morons....Kovalev's best win is a 50 year old Hopkins....Before that he fought Cedric Agnew and Blake Capparello...He's good for sure, but…
