Roman "Rocky" Martinez returned home to Puerto Rico and was very surprised when he arrrived to a hero's welcome. Last Saturday in Glasgow, Scotland, hometown hero Ricky Burns captured the WBO super featherweight title when he upset Martinez to win a twelve round decision. Martinez suffered the first loss of his pro career.

Martinez explained some of the issues which took place prior to the fight with Burns. After making weight at 128.8-pounds last Friday, Martinez says he woke up the next morning feeling sick and couldn't put his weight back on. Usually weighing between 140 to 145-pounds by the time he steps in the ring, Martinez claims that he couldn't get any higher than 135-pounds.

"There were many things before the fight. I weighed in too low. I do not know why. At the weigh-in I felt pretty good, but the next day I woke up sick to my stomach and could not regain my weight. I went in there at 135 pounds, not 140 or 145," Martinez told Jose Sanchez.

"I could not throw. I had no strength. The Rocky that everybody knows, that was not him in there. You go down, but you have to pick yourself up, and I'll become a world champion again, for my people and my family."
