Rocky Martinez Back in Action on April 9 or April 16

By Rey Colon

The former junior lightweight champion of the WBO, Roman "Rocky" Martinez (24-1-1 and 15 knockouts) will make his return to the ring on April 9 or 16, according to his coach Papo Torres.

"We'll fight in April. We have two dates, April 9 or the 16th on the undercard of Juan Manuel Lopez. It would be a fight to get a return win before going on the hunt for a title," he said.

Martinez lost his crown and undefeated record when he was overtaken last year by Ricky Burns, in a bout held in Scotland, where the Puerto Rican was able to send Burns to the canvas in the first round.

"After that fight [in April], we'll go for the title at 130-pounds against either Burns or whoever. Rocky is training hard. recovered and ready to fight when the date is set."

I'm looking forward to the day when someone starches the arrogant Rocky Martinez!!! I love seeing guys who do the cut throat gesture get their A$$ handed to them. I'm going to have a party when that face first fighter…

Glad to hear that Rocky is going to fight soon. He is a true warrior and always gives us fun fights. That may not be good for a long career as he should box a little more and not get…
