Robert Guerrero Stops Edel Ruiz in One Round

By Paul Gallegos

After a near layoff due to promotional problems, super feathweight contender and former champion, Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (23-1-1, 16 KOs) returned on the undercard to Antonio Margarito-Shane Mosley at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

In a "shake off the rust" feeler, Guerrero stopped Edel Ruiz (31-22-4, 22 KOs) in less than a minute of the first round with a hard body shot. Guerrero's new promoters, Golden Boy, are trying to place him on the March 7 card that features James Kirkland vs. Joel Julio and Victor Ortiz vs. Mike Arnaoutis.
