BoxingScene.com recently caught up with world class trainer Robert Garcia who trains a small army of fighters including Marcos Maidana, Brandon Rios, Mikey Garcia, Saul Rodriguez and several others.

Count Garcia among the many who want to see the highly anticipated middleweight unification between WBC champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) and WBA/IBO/IBF champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

Both fighters are currently scheduled to take interim-bouts and then face each other in the fall. Canelo will return on Cinco De Mayo weekend in May and Golovkin's next fight is being targeted for a date in March or April. If Canelo refuses to go through with the fight, which is being planned for September, he will lose his WBC title and Golovkin will be named full champion.

While he would like to see the fight happen in 2016 as a fan, he feels it makes better business sense for the fight to simmer a little bit longer.

"It would be nice to see it, but I think for Canelo the smart way to do it is to wait until 2017 to fight him. He gets more experience and two or three more wins, more confidence. That also gets Triple G two or three more wins, maybe easy wins because he always knocks guys out.  Then he is 35-36 and look at Mayweather-Pacquiao. It took what 6-7 years to make and it still sold over 4 million pay-per-views. It still broke records," said Garcia.
