A fight that has been highly anticipated by the boxing community if finally upon as Bam Bam Brandon Rios will take on Mike Alvarado in a Junior Welterweight clash at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA this Saturday night.
Rios has been plagued with weight issues as he failed to make the Lightweight limit of 135 pounds in his last two fights. His performances were hindered due to the weight struggles but now he’s finally moving up to a new weight class and he assures the weight will not be an issue inside or outside the ring.
“I’m going to be better. Of course the weight when I was at 135, I was killing myself just to make it. Now I’m at 140 and I feel great. I know the weight is not going to be a factor. The only way Mike Alvarado beats me is because he’s a better man but that’s not going to happen. I’m ready. I know it’s not going to go the distance. Somebody is going to get knocked out. I’m ready to go and I’m ready to keep my O” stated Rios to BoxingScene.
Part of what makes this fight so exciting is the similarities between both combatants. Both carry power, like to come forward and are willing to mix it up and in turn provide excitement for the fans.
Rios is no stranger to going to war and in fact, he welcomes it. Both men have been in there share of tough fights and Rios doesn’t expect this one to be any different.
“I’m always willing and determined to fight no matter who it is. I don’t give up. He’s pretty much going to have to kill me to get me out of there because I’m not giving up” stated Rios.
“I know it’s the same way with him. I’m going to have to kill him to get him out because he doesn’t give up so it’s going to be on hell of a fight and a great fight for the fans”.
