Rigondeaux vs. Flores - CompuBox Historical Review

By CompuBox

To say Guillermo Rigondeaux is economical and precise with his power punches is a massive understatement. In his last 6 fights, Rigo landed 46.4% of his power punches (9% higher than wgt. class avg. & #8 on CompuBox Cat. Leaders list.-CCLL) He's not accurate with his jab (11.2%), but he's busy with it - 32.1 per round, well above wgt. class avg. & #7 on CCLS.

Rigo threw just 16.6 power shots per round- 2nd lowest on CCLL (W. Klitschko 14.7) and he landed just 11.3 total punches per round (3rd lowest) and landed just 7.7 power per round (3rd lowest). Now to his defensive numbers, which are off the charts: Opponents landed just 4.8 punches per round (#1 on CCLL & nearly 4x fewer the wgt. class avg.) Opp. landed just 3.2 power shots per round (#1 on CCLL & 4x less than wgt. class avg.).

Opp landed just 16.4% of total punches (#1 on CCLL) & just 19.9% of their power shots (#1 on CCLL & 17.6% lower than wgt. class avg.). 65.8% of Rigo's thrown punches are jabs (CompuBox avg.: 41.5%). Amazing numbers? yes...crowd pleasing? no...but effective.

Moises Flores is polar opposite of Rigo. He landed 26 of 82 vs. Cusolito & Escandon- 24 of 60 were power shots (40%). Opponents landed 35.2%- not a good number when facing a precise, sharp-shooter like Rigondeaux.
