Randy Caballero vs. Diego De La Hoya in Play For Canelo-Golovkin

According to Diego De La Hoya and his trainer Joel Diaz, a deal has been reach for a fight with Randy Caballero - which would take place on September 16th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight would be part of the HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to the middleweight showdown between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

De La Hoya confirmed to The Desert Sun that he has accepted the fight and the terms, and is now waiting for Caballero to sign. Both of the undefeated boxers train in Coachella Valley

De La Hoya (19-0, 9 KOs), who is the cousin of Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, told the paper that he will begin training camp for Cabellero (24-0, 14 KOs) in Indio, California on Monday.

"It's going to be a great fight," Diego De La Hoya said. "Two undefeated fighters. It's going to be a great undercard. It's going to be a very explosive fight, I can tell you that."

There was some back and forth war of words, where Caballero claimed Diego was backing away from taking the fight. But everything came together this week to get the deal done.

"Randy will not look in the camera and say ‘Oh, I took the fight and Diego De La Hoya turned it down,’” Diaz said. “Because that’s not his style. Randy Caballero is a professional. He’s a great kid.

“But if he did it, there’s a reason behind it. That’s part of boxing, that’s part of creating the hype. Diego De La Hoya would not turn anybody down. I’m telling you, that guy has a lot of anger. That guy is crazy when it comes to fighting. Anybody in that division he’ll take on. We’re going to have a 100 percent serious camp,” Diaz said. “No messing around. No going to Calexico. No going anywhere.”

[QUOTE=1hourRun;17893803]I like where this is going, winner is a step closer to facing Rey Vargas for the WBC 122 pound strap. I got a feeling that Golden-Boy is going to make Randy pay for his lack of professionalism ever since…
