Sources have advised BoxingScene.com that a fight between former champion Ruslan Provodnikov and top contender Petr Petrov is a serious possibility for November 7th on Showtime.

This bout could take place at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York. Provodnikov and Banner Promotions are in the midst of moving over from HBO to Showtime.

Provodnikov (24-4, 17KO's) last fought on April 18th, losing a close, hard-fought decision to Lucas Matthysse. He and his representatives had been growing frustrated with HBO's inability to force the hand of Top Rank in making fights with the likes of Brandon Rios (who is facing Tim Bradley on November 7th) and other boxers within their promotional banner.

Petrov (36-4-2, 17 KO's) is a world-rated lightweight who won the ESPN Boxcino tournament in 2014 and in his last outing back on April 3rd he won a 10-round decision over Gamaliel Diaz. He was going to face Liam Walsh on October 10th in a WBO eliminator, but the fight was called off when Walsh withdrew with a hand injury.
