Proksa vs Zbik Winning Purse Bid Submitted By Sturm

By Per Ake Persson

Sturm Box Promotion, headed by WBA middleweight champ Felix Sturm, submitted the winning financial sum during Tuesday's purse bids in Rome for EBU middleweight champ Grzegorz Proksa´s mandatory defense against Sturm's former stablemate at Universum, Sebastian Zbik (30-1, 10KOs). Proksa (26-0, 19KOs) won the vacant title in October with a third round stoppage of Sebastian Sylvester.

Sturm Boxing bid, according to Bild, 176,100 EUR for the fight. Sauerland Event finished second with a bid for 153,079 EUR while Proksa´s promoter Matchroom came in third at 100,001 EUR. Universum, Zbik´s promoter, sent in their bid by fax - something that appears to be against the EBU rules and thus their bid wasn´t recognized.

When and where this fight takes place is unknown, but according to Bild - Sturm Boxing is looking to do the fight in Zbik´s hometown of Schwerin, a town in what used to be East Germany. The location is home to Traktor Schwerin, one of the best amateur clubs in Europe and boxing always does well there.

i expect proksa to dominate this fight and martinez/chavez jr to pretend that he doesn't exist afterwards.

This is a good matchup, interested to see more of Proksa after his break out performance. He was so dominant against Sylvester
