Povetkin, Lebedev Doubleheader, 11/4 in Kazan, Russia

By Alexey Sukachev

Further realizing their plan to bring boxing into different parts of Russia and to widen their area of presence, “World of Boxing” will enter the city of Kazan, a capital of the Tatar Republic, located on the shores of Volga River, with a breakthrough show on November 4. The card will be held at the Basket-Hall, a home of UNICS, local basketball franchise.

The main event of the evening will see WBC and TBRB #1 rated heavyweight Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21 KOs), who will look to defend his WBC Silver title against an opponent to be named. Povetkin is presently in hot pursuit of the WBC champion Deontay Wilder and will look to retain his mandatory challenger’s status for a future major showdown with the American.

The co-feature of the night will be the next title defense of the WBA cruiserweight titleholder and TBRB #3 Denis Lebedev (27-1, 20 KOs), whose opponent is yet to be announced. (Note: Lebedev’s record is presented in the manner provided by his promoters).

Also on the card are:

• IBO cruiserweight champion, TBRB #7 and 2008 Beijing heavyweight gold medalist Rakhim Chakhkiev (23-1, 18 KOs);

• Another cruiserweight prodigy Dmitry “The Sledgehammer” Kudryashov (18-0, 18 KOs), who is rated in top six of all the major sanctioning bodies and who is also TBRB #9 rated 200lber;

• Another IBO champion in light welterweight power-hitter Eduard Troyanovskiy (22-0, 19 KOs), who is on the twelve-fight kayo string;

• Ex-WBA titlist Svetlana Kulakova (10-0-1, 1 KO).
