Former welterweight champion Shawn Porter is currently training for his March 13th showdown against Roberto Garcia. Porter, who is trained by his father Ken, said that he is working on boxing more and is working on getting hit less in this camp.

"I like to mix it up but we are working on boxing right now," Porter explained. "I am an aggressive fighter but we want to box him.  When I am in the ring my blood boils. That is who I am.  I want to be aggressive but I am not trying to prove to Roberto Garcia that I am bigger and stronger than him.  I just want to prove to him that he can't beat me."

As for future opponents, Porter said that he is definitely interested in facing the winner of the March 28th clash between Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov.  That fight will be contested at 140 pounds but Provodnikov has previously fought at welterweight and Matthysse has recently expressed interest in moving up in weight which makes the winner a potential future opponent.

"Ruslan and Matthysse are at the top of their division right now and right now it is about fighting the best.  People were saying that Shawn was the next best thing but the only way to prove that is to get in there with the best.  I welcome that fight any day," Porter told BoxingScene.com.
