Photos: Ricky Burns, Josh Kelly Secure Big Knockout Wins

Ricky Burns stopped Scotty Cardle in great fashion and proved he still has plenty more in the tank. The pair clashed in a late-notice lightweight dust-up at Manchester Arena, with the Scot getting the better of his former sparring partner in a statement-maker.

Tony Bellew vowed to retire from boxing after Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk defended his WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO cruiserweight titles with an eighth-round knockout of the Brit.

Roared on by a passionate home crowd, Bellew started brightly and was ahead on two of the three judges scorecards when the fight was stopped.

But Usyk, who has never lost a professional fight, was the man getting stronger as the bout wore on and delivered the knockout blow with a left hand to leave Bellow floored.

David Allen Allen, who will fight on the undercard of Kell Brook’s WBA welterweight title eliminator against Michael Zerafa at the FlyDSA Arena in Sheffield, took out Ariel Esteban Bracamonte at the end of the seventh round.

Anthony Crolla looks set to fight for his old WBA lightweight title against the pound-for-pound king Vasyl Lomachenko after winning on points over Indonesia’s Daud Yordan in a final eliminator. The scores were 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112.
