Churchill County Fairgrounds in Fallon, Nevada - Top rated featherweight contender Miguel Marriaga (24-1, 20 KOs) continues his march to a world title shot with a sixth round knockout of Guy Robb (18-2, 8 KOs) in the main event of Top Rank's Solo Boxeo on UniMas. Photos by Mikey Williams/Top Rank.
Coming into this contest, Robb had an eleven fight winning streak and believed his boxing ability was enough to overcome Marriaga's power. He was wrong.
Marriaga was too strong and his punches found their mark to put Robb down for the win in the sixth to capture the vacant North American Boxing Organization (NABO) featherweight title. Marriaga's sole defeat came at the hands of Nicholas Walters.
Top rated lightweight Jose Felix Jr. (34-1-1, 26 KOs) beat up and stopped Rob Frankel (34-17-1, 7 KOs) in six rounds.
Felix is now calling for a fight with WBO world champion Terry Flanagan, and he's willing to travel overseas for the contest.
"Let's do a fight with Flanagan. I will fight Flanagan in His House, overseas. It doesn't matter where. Let's get it done," Felix said.
Featherweight prospect Jose ‘El Chocolatito’ Gonzalez (5-0-1, 2 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over Gelacio Cruz (2-4-2, 1 KO). All three judges saw it 40-36.
Jose trained primarily in New York but stopped in Las Vegas to train which included a sparring session with Olympic gold medal winner and former world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa.
