Luke Campbell was noticeably taller than Jorge Linares when they weighed in Friday for their WBA world lightweight title fight.

It’s one of the few advantages the British contender appears to have over the heavily favored Linares entering their 12-round championship match Saturday night in Inglewood, California.

The 32-year-old Linares (42-3, 27 KOs), a native of Venezuela, weighed in well below the lightweight limit of 135 pounds when he got on the California State Athletic Commission’s scale at 134.2 pounds in Los Angeles. The 29-year-old Campbell (17-1, 14 KOs), of Hessle, England, weighed 134.8 pounds.

HBO will televise the Linares-Campbell bout as the main event of a “Boxing After Dark” broadcast from The Forum. It is set to start at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

The scheduled co-feature – a 10-round, 140-pound bout between San Diego’s Antonio Orozco (26-0, 17 KOs) and Mexico’s Roberto Ortiz (35-1-2, 26 KOs) – was canceled Friday. Ortiz weighed in at 142½ pounds, over the contracted weight for their regional title bout, but Orozco did not weigh in at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel.

HBO also will replay the middleweight championship draw between Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) and Canelo Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) on Saturday night. Kazakhstan’s Golovkin and Mexico’s Alvarez went at it in a compelling, competitive HBO Pay-Per-View main event September 16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

OK, Garcia may have left 135, but Linares still isn't the current WBC holder? I'd say he's the number one at 135 now, but that title isn't on the line in this fight.

Luke is such ab ig lightweight it's a shame he lacks resilience and heart. I think he will start well but once Linares puts it on him, he gets KOd.
