Kansas Star Arena, Mulvane -In a middleweight contest, Gabe Rosado (24-11-1, 14 KOs) and Luis Arias (18-2, 9 KOs) fought to a twelve round split draw. The scores were 116-112 for Arias, 116-112 for Rosado and 114-114.
This was Arias' first bout since losing a one-sided twelve round decision at the hands of current IBF middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs back in November of 2017.
Rosado was in action back in October, when he battered and stopped Glen Tapia in six rounds. The win snapped a two fight losing streak for Rosado.
The contest began with Arias stalking and coming forward, and Rosado boxing and looking to throw counters. Rosado and Arias were fighting in a close-pitched boxing match as the contest played out in the third and fourth.
After a close fifth, Arias took the sixth with a lot of shots to the body. Rosado came right back in the seventh by using his jab and movement to outbox Arias. Rosado continued to show off his boxing skills and presented Arias with issues.
At the start of the ninth, it appeared that Arias was rocked by a hard hook and then Rosado jumped on him with a series of punches that forced Arias to hold on. Arias was able to recover a bit and started throwing punches - only to get rocked again in the closing seconds.
Arias was rallying at the start of the tenth round, pressing forward and landing shots. They were trading a lot more shots in the eleventh, with Arias getting the edge when it came to landed punches. Rosado was coming forward and throwing hard shots at the start of the twelfth. A cut opened up above the right eye of Arias from of clash of heads. Rosado had the advantage as Arias was bothered by the cut and appeared to be looking for the fight to end.
