The Forum, Los Angeles, California - In a rematch of their 2018 war, for the WBC super flyweight world title, Juan Francisco Estrada (39-3, 26 KOs) got revenge, with a twelve round unanimous decision over Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (47-5-1, 41 KOs). In their first meeting nearly a year ago, Sor Rungvisai won a very close twelve round decision.
Estrada started off fast as he promised to do, taking the fight to Sor Rungvisai. He was really tagging Sor Rungvisai with heavy punches to the head and body. Sor Rungvisai was being rattled.
Estrada was going downstairs with straight punches and connecting very well in the second. Sor Rungvisai was landing counters here and there, but very flat-footed. In the third, Estrada was busier but Sor Rungvisai was landing the hard punches.
Sor Rungvisai was going to the body, looking to slow Estrada down. They were going to war for most of the round with toe to toe punches. Estrada was outlanding and outworking Sor Rungvisai in the fifth. The high workrate by Estrada continued in the sixth, with Sor Rungvisai landing in small spurts.
The workrate of Estrada was on full display in the seventh with hard shots flying to the head and body, and he was walking through anything Sor Rungvisai landed. Pure domination by Estrada in the eight, with a dominating display of boxing - and there was more of the same in the ninth. Sor Rungvisai rallied in the tenth, with hard punches and throwing more often.
They were trading heavy shots in the eleventh round. Sor Rungvisai was trying to rally for a late knockout and starting to connect with several hard shots. They were trading heavy leather in the twelfth, with Estrada outfighting Sor Rungvisai.
