Mohegan Sun, CT. - In a WBC junior middleweight eliminator, Erickson Lubin (23-1, 16 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over 2012 Olympian Terrell Gausha (21-2-1, 10 KOs). The scores were 115-113, 116-112 and 118-110. (photos by Amanda Westcott)
A tight boxing match in the first, with Lubin having the edge. Lubin continued to have the edge in the second and third, with the two having a calculated boxing match. A slow paced boxing match continued in the fourth. Lubin was able to land more of the shots.
Gausha was very timid and Lubin was showing him too much respect, which created a slow-paced chess match. Lubin was starting to get more active with his punches in the seventh, as he let his hands go. In the eight, Lubin was doing a job on Gausha with combinations.
Both were getting busier and continued the action in the ninth. Lubin was landing the better punches, with Gausha countering well. In the tenth, Gausha rocked Lubin and was pressing forward with hard connects.
Gausha was pressing forward in the eleventh, pressing forward and looking to do damage. Lubin was firing back with combinations. In the twelfth, Gausha came back out looking for damage. Lubin was firing off the stiff jab to hold him back. In the closing moments a right hook hurt Gausha, but Lubin was unable to follow-up with too much as the fight ended.
