Sheffield Arena, Sheffield - In an IBF super featherweight final eliminator, Jono Carroll (16-0-1, 3 KOs) and Guillaume Frenois (46-2, 12 KOs) to a twelve round split draw. The scores were 115-113 for Frenois, 115-113 for Carroll and 114-114. (photos by Mark Robinson).

Carroll was coming off a TKO win over Declan Geraghty in June.

And Frenois entered the ring with a 15 fight win streak since suffering his first career defeat back in September 2013 to Devis Boschiero.

Neither boxer becomes the mandatory challenger to IBF world champion Tevin Farmer, who makes a voluntary defense of his title on December 15 against Francisco Fonseca - as  part of the Canelo Alvarez-Rocky Fielding undercard at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Carroll started well in the early going, but eventually the boxing of Frenois was giving him fits. Frenois was using his jab and more accurate punches to take rounds.

Carroll began to rally with more pressure and hard punches in the ninth round. Both fighters had sustained cuts early on in the fight and those injuries were bleeding.

The action was very close as the championship rounds played out. Carroll was working hard with his aggressive style of boxing and his harder punches, but Frenois was boxing, moving and using sharp punches. The fight appeared to be up for grabs in the twelfth round, and both boxers were fighting hard to secure the title shot opportunity.
