The name of welterweight contender David Emanuel Peralta (26-2-1, 14 KO) is still on the lips of many boxing fans, after his shocking upset victory last Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Peralta, who was in active for well over a year, retired from the sport and driving a cab to support his family, won a ten round split decision over former multi-division world champion Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero (33-5-1, 18 KO).

Peralta was a 70-1 underdog in the contest and overlooked by most fans in the United States and even by many in Argentina.

Peralta, who used to drive his cab twelve hours a day to support his family, is now going full-time in boxing.

"Right now I hope to rest, recover and celebrate my birthday with my loved ones. I'm still very happy with what we have achieved. I did not think that I would be ready for this level but I showed that I was. I'm a guy who suffered a lot and went through some difficult time and I got over it . Obviously I'd fight for a title. I will better prepare [that type of opportunity]," Peralta.

"I do not like to talk about it much, but until recently I had gone hungry. God gave me a very important opportunity and luckily I learned to take advantage of it. I took this opportunity as the last fight of my life and now I am fully focused on boxing. I had very serious training and awareness. Perhaps that was the difference in a very tough fight. Guerrero, I admired him throughout my career, I still do, but I was very confident in what I could give."

"I love driving, I feel very happy. It was hard, but I had a good time on the street as a cab driver. Boxing is the love of my life, driving is a pleasure for me and lately had become my job."
