Patrick Nielsen Expects Big Things For His Brother Micki

Patrick Nielsen says his little brother Micki Nielsen (20-0, 14 KOs) can prove he is ready to face the best in the division by defending his WBC International Cruiserweight title against Mirko Larghetti (24-1, 16 KOs) on March 19 at the Albertslund Musikteatret.

Micki Nielsen faces the toughest test of his career against the former World title challenger Larghetti, who has suffered just one defeat in his twenty-five-fight career, inflicted by former WBO World Champion Marco Huck in August 2014.

‘’It will be a tough fight, but Micki is ready,’’ says Nielsen. ‘’I’ve been with him in the gym and I’ve seen him spar, and he’s in the best shape of his life.’’

The southpaw siblings are both trained by former two-time World Champion Joey Gamache, and while the focus has been on the younger of the two Danish boxing brothers, Patrick has been a constant figure in the gym offering his little brother support and encouragement.

‘’We always have each other’s back,’’ said Nielsen. ‘’Every time one of us starts to feel down or tired, the other one is there to push them forward. It’s great to have someone like that by your side when you’re training, and I’ll always be there to offer Micki advise if he needs it.’’

Patrick Nielsen believes a win against Larghetti can lead Micki to the big fights he deserves including a shot at one of the division’s top names.

‘’I’ve always said that Micki is ready for the big fights, said Nielsen. ‘’It can be difficult to watch him box sometimes, he’s still my little brother and I wouldn’t want to see him get hurt, but I know he is ready, and he can prove that by beating Larghetti.

‘’After this fight, he will be ready to fight the best. He is one of the hardest punchers out there and I think he will become the next big thing in the cruiserweight division!’’

Tickets for the Nordic Fight Night on March 19 at the Albertslund Musikteatret featuring Micki Nielsen’s WBC International Cruiserweight title defence against Mirko Larghetti are available online via www.billetlugen.dk or by calling (+45) 70 263 267.

Micki is the much more talented brother of the two.
