Disagreements within the inner circle of Manny Pacquiao's team is nothing new.

Over the last few weeks, media outlets from all over the world have given coverage to Pacquiao's issues with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). It is being claimed that Pacquiao owes $18 million dollars to the IRS and $50 million dollars to the BIR.

Pacquiao's longtime legal adviser, Franklin Gacal, says the Filpino star's longtime adviser, Michael Koncz, is the point man when it comes to paying taxes - and if there are any issues with monies being owed for tax liabilities, then Koncz is the person to blame.

"Well, it appears there is really a problem. The IRS is claiming there is a tax deficiency. If there were some mistakes, it was Mike’s fault. Why did it happen? They were supposed to have hired accountants. At the end of the year, after the filing of the tax returns, all problems should have been solved. If the U.S. still has claims, there should be problems with recording and everything. So this is the point man’s fault and that is Mike," Gacal told Edwin Espejo of Rappler.

Later in the interview, Gacal claimed Koncz was siding up to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, because he wants to position himself for future work when Pacquiao retires in the near future.

"Mike looks up to Bob Arum [for] when Pacquiao is done with boxing. When Pacquiao is done, who is he [referring to Koncz]? So he has to maintain his good relations with Bob Arum," Gacal said.
