BoxingScene.com was contacted Frank Meehan, manager for Owen "What the Heck" Beck. Team Beck is frustrated by their inability to land a major fight. Beck has won four fights in a row since losing against Nikolay Vauev when they fought for Valuev's WBA championship.

Beck is frustrated and knows he needs a big fight sooner than later. His manager contacted HBO to try to fight against Arreola in his comeback fight on December 5 but was turned down because Beck's recent fights have been against journeymen. HBO wants him to fight one of the young up and comers in the heavyweight division when, according to Meeham, their promoters want opponents who are not as risky. Meeham said, "Ryan, if this was the 60s or 70s these young guys would be jumping at the chance to fight a proven veteran like Owen. That is one of the problems with boxing nowadaways. No one wants to take a risk."

Beck would love a shot at Arreola, Estrada, Eddie Chambers, or Manny Quezada. He would even fight avoided fighters like Cedric Boswell or a shot at avenging his loss to Monte Barrett. "Owen isn't getting any younger. He knows he needs to make the most of his chances now." Says Meeham.
