Oscar De La Hoya: Canelo-Lara Card Will Be Sold Out

By Ryan Burton

MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV - BoxingScene.com caught up with Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya earlier today to get his take on the success that the Canelo Alvarez-Erislandy Lara Showtime pay-per-view event is having at the box office.  Various sources have informed BoxingScene.com that ticket sales have been strong and that between 11,000-12,000 seats had been sold as of this morning.

Fans have been clamoring for this showdown for over a year and De La Hoya said that he fully expects the event to sellout.  He said that when you combine Canelo's star power with a dangerous rival like Lara, and an undercard that features fighters such as Abner Mares and Juan Manuel Lopez, you have the formula for a successful event.

"We expect a sellout.  We think that this will sell out today.  We feel that with Canelo, with Lara and Abner Mares - the whole undercard is unbelievable.  The star power that Canelo Alvarez has is amazing. The fans know they are getting an exciting fight," De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com.

Can't wait for Canelo to hand over his star power to Golovkin when he realizes he can't make 154 anymore.
