News: Hall of Fame Update, Steve Forbes Sets Card, More

Turning Stone Announces a Major Five-Year Regional Partnership with the International Boxing Hall of Fame

This new partnership is an exciting, five year, multifaceted program that spotlights Madison and Oneida Counties and will boost tourism in Central New York.  The robust program includes a series of nationally-televised boxing events at Turning Stone, culminating annually in June with an elaborate International Boxing Hall of Fame Weekend celebration with several events, promotions, restaurant specials and more.

Oneida Nation Homelands – At a press conference today with many local elected officials and community leaders in attendance, Turning Stone announced a major new regional partnership with the International Boxing Hall of Fame. The five-year multifaceted program will spotlight the entire region, garnering national attention and will boost Central New York tourism. The program includes a series of nationally-televised boxing events at Turning Stone and will culminate every year in June with an elaborate and bigger-than-ever International Boxing Hall of Fame Weekend celebration.

PORTLAND, OREGON: Steve Forbes'  2 Pounds Sports & Entertainment presents 2Pound's Fight Night",  an action packed evening of professional and amateur boxing on December 9, at the Jackson Armory in Portland Oregon.

Forbes, the former IBF super featherweight champion and Contender Season 2, star, and his partner Christina Lunzman, are both Portland natives, and on a  mission to bring boxing glory back to their hometown. "There have been a lot of fighters from Portland that were good, and I had an excellent career in the ring," Forbes said,  "but now it's time for me to bring boxing back to life here, and give some new champions a start. December 9 is going to be my first event, and also the first time a card has brought together pro and amateur bouts in Portland."

Atlanta, GA- Terri Moss's Big Boss Enterprises announces the Underground Showdown 2 will be Saturday, November 4, at Buckhead Fight Club, 3293 Buford Hwy. NE #500.

“Our first show July 1 was a success, totally sold out, with great action, and we're expecting more of the same November 4,” said promoter Terri Moss. “I'm bringing back some local favorites, Deonte Brown, Eric Moon and Ray Barlow, and I'm excited to have a women's WBF bantam weight title between Helen Joseph (14-3-1) and Mandy Fuentes (8-9-5) in our main event- don't blink when these ladies get in the ring because they're ready to battle for this title."

Rounding out the action at Underground Showdown 2 are featherweights Deonte Brown (1-0) and Gabriel Braxton, (2-18-0); welterweights Ray Barlow (2-0) and Lloyd Wright (0-1-0); featherweights Pablo Cruz (14-2) and Patrick Riley, (11-0). 6-0 super middleweight Eric Moon and 1-0 welterweight Jesus Almonte opponents are TBA.
