Nathan Gorman made a routine defence of his fringe title.

The 22-year-old was in action at Manchester Arena on Saturday night.

Gorman, a relation of former unified world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, outpointed ex-WBO heavyweight title challenger Razvan Cojanu to keep hold of his WBC International Silver heavyweight bauble.

The fight, exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office, came as part of the supporting cast to Josh Warrington’s bid to retain his IBF featherweight world title against former two-weight king Carl Frampton.

And after securing his first notch on the defences front of the ranking belt with the World Boxing Council, following winning it back in November 2017 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle against Mohamed Soltby, Gorman will be hoping to improve even further under the tutelage of Ricky Hatton and Mike Jackson.

A fight with Daniel Dubois has long been mooted for Gorman, but the promoter of the pair, Frank Warren, has expressed a desire to keep them apart until the fight is more significant both in terms of the occasion and the finances.

Cojanu provided little that worried Gorman throughout their clash and the referee, Mark Lyson, was busy having to break the pair up on numerous occasions.

But it went the distance and the three scoring judges at ringside turned in tallies of 119-109, 119-109 and 120-108.

Gorman, with the win, moves on to 15-0 with 11 early, while Cojanu slips to 16-5 with nine quick.
