Monroe's Trainer Slams Claims of GGG Holding Back

Ryan Burton catches up with Tony Morgan, trainer of Willie Monroe Jr, to discuss WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (30-0, 30KOs) stopping Monroe in six rounds at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Golovkin dropped him hard twice in the second round and one final time in the sixth, where Monroe told the referee that he had enough. With the victory Golovkin gained his 20th consecutive knockout victory.

After Monroe got dropped twice in the second, he miraculously came on strong in the third and fourth round of the contest, landing several combinations to the head and body of Golovkin. Eventually the power was too much and Monroe was overwhelmed as he got hurt really bad in the fifth and then taken out in the sixth.

[QUOTE=IMDAZED;15702727]It's going to take someone with a sensible gameplan, strength and one heck of an inside game to beat Golovkin. Last Saturday's fight reminded me of Tszyu-Phillips. Phillips had the power, skills and inside game to work Tszyu over. He…
