Mikeala Lauren, Anthony Yigit Train Together For Nordic Fight Night

Mikeala Lauren and Anthony Yigit have spent the last week in the Aix-en-Provence in France where they have been undergoing an intensive training camp ahead of the Nordic Fight Night on April 23 at the Hovet in Stockholm.

The Stockholm fighters have joined forces, training together as they prepare for their big fights in the Swedish capital later this month.

‘’We’ve been waking up every morning and going for a run up the Sainte-Victoire Mountain,’’ says Lauren, who defends her WBC Female Super Welterweight title against Ivana Habazin. ‘’That’s followed by a boxing session at twelve and then another session later in the afternoon. It’s crazy hard work but it’s the best training I’ve ever had, and I can feel myself getting stronger - physically and mentally.’’

‘’This is a perfect place to come to train for a fight,’’ explains Yigit, who puts his undefeated record on the line against the tough British-boxer Chris Goodwin. ‘’We have everything we need - a running track, swimming pool, boxing gym, and no distractions. There is good sparring here too, so it works out great!’’

The Swedish stars have been there to support each other as they ready themselves for the biggest boxing event in Stockholm for almost fifty-years.

‘’It’s great to have Anthony here with me,’’ says Lauren. ‘’We’re both from the same city and have the same mentality. We both have our eyes on the same goal so we are able to support each other. When it gets tough he’s there pushing me forward and I can do the same for him.’’

‘’It’s really nice to be training alongside Mikaela,’’ says Yigit. ‘’It feels good knowing that we are both training for the same event. It’s a big opportunity to fight at the Hovet and this will make sure we are both in the best possible shape on April 23.’’

Lauren and Yigit fight as part of a blockbuster bill in Stockholm, which features
IBF Intercontinental Champion Erik Skoglund against the tough South African Ryno Liebenberg, Klara Svensson in a rematch with Lucia Morelli, the ‘Golden Boy’ Oscar Ahlin versus Patrick ‘Tiger’ Mendy and Sundsvall heavyweight Otto Wallin facing Irineu Beato Costa Junior.

Tickets for the Nordic Fight Night on April 23 at the Hovet in Stockholm are available online via www.globearenas.se and www.AXS.com, by calling (+46) 0771-31 00 00 and from the Stockholm Globe Arenas Box Office.
