The October 13th fight between former lightweight champion Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado has hardcore fight fans salivating at what is sure to be an all out war.

Rios came in overweight in his past two fights which partly lead to his decision to make move up in weight. Alvarado paid a visit to a recent edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene's official audio show to talk about the fight. My co-host Luis Sandoval asked Alvarado if he was worried about Rios' coming in at the junior welterweight limit.

"I would still go through with the fight (if Rios doesn't make weight). I'm a bigger fighter than him either way but there is no reason why he can't make it. He said he's already at 145. He should be motivated. I hope he's in the best shape ever. I love big challenges. He should be on point," Alvarado explained.

The Denver, Colorado native feels that he  has paid his dues and is ready for a fight of this magnitude. He thinks a victory over Rios will move him up to star status.

"I have put in a lot of work. I have beat a lot of contenders and prospects. This should put me where I want to be and catapult my career. This is a WBO eliminator and will put me where I want to be," Alvarado concluded.
