Mijares, Nebran Trade Knockdowns in Campeche Battle

By Miguel Rivera

Salon Sinicato Secc 47 de Pemex, Campeche, Mexico - Former champion Cristian “El Diamante” Mijares (52-8-2, 25 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Filipino contender Vergel Nebran (13-9-1, 8 KOs). The scores were 97-91, 98-90, 98-90 over ten super featherweight rounds.

Mijares went down in the second, Nebran went down in the ninth. It was the first fight for Mijares in 2015. Last year Mijares held three fights, with a loss to Leo Santa Cruz in March and then bouncing back to gain two more wins.

Mijares is hoping to get another championship at 130-pounds to close out his career.
