Miguel Vazquez: I Have The Style To Beat Brandon Rios

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com caught up with IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez after his dominating victory over the previously undefeated Lenny "Lenny Z" Zappavigna of Austraila. After a few rounds, the Mexican was able to adjust to Lenny Z's straight forward brawling style. Vazquez was counterpunching beautifully and won the fight by a
wide margin. The scores were 117-111 and 118-110 twice.

When asked who he wants to fight next, Vazquez told BoxingScene, "I would like to fight  (Humberto) Zorrita Soto (WBC champion) if he beats (Urbano) Antillon or (WBA champion) Brandon Rios."

Brandon Rios is a brawler who fights similarly to Zappavigna but packs more power in his punches. Vazquez feels his boxing ability would lead him to victory over Rios just like it did tonight.  "I think I have the style to beat Brandon Rios. My boxing ability would bring me wins over Rios or Soto.  Those are the two fights I want next."

Vazquez, Rios and Soto are all promoted by Top Rank making a unification bout very likely.

Vazquez has a bad style for Rios, and i would favour Vazquez if they fought. Rios's power might when him the fight, i can't see Rios making this fight happen yet though.
