Miguel Vazquez Bounces Back, Decisions Belmontes

By Francisco Salazar

Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California - In the walkout bout of the evening, former IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez won a ten round unanimous decision over Jerry Belmontes (19-6). Vazquez lost his world title in what some felt was a controversial twelve round split decision to Mickey Bey on September 13, which was part of the Mayweather-Maidana II undercard on Showtime Pay-Per-View.

Against Belmontes, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Vazquez (35-4, 13KOs), 99-91, 99-91, and 98-92. Belmontes drops his third straight by decision. The fight took place on the Berto-Lopez non-televised undercard.
