By Miguel Rivera

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has ordered a purse bid for the mandatory defense of the world lightweight champion Miguel "Puppet" Vazquez of Mexico, who the sanctioning body is ordering to face Panamanian Ameth Diaz. The purse bid takes place on the 16th of July at IBF's headquarters in New Jersey. Vazquez previously decisioned Diaz over twelve rounds in January 2012 in Mexico.

In his last appearance, Diaz won by knockout in the seventh round over Martin Gethin, in an IBF elimination bout, which raised his record to 32-11 and 23 KO's. Vazquez fought for the last time, last December in Las Vegas, where he successfully defended his title, beating by a twelve round unanimous decision, Filipino challenger Mercito Gesta. Vazquez has a record of 33-3 and 13 KOs.
