Micki Nielsen Eager To Prove Worth in Super 4 Tourney Final

Micki Nielsen (22-0, 14 KOs) has arrived in South Africa ready for to face Kevin Lerena (15-1, 8 KOs) in the final of the ‘Super 4’ tournament on October 22 at the Emperors Palace in Gauteng.

The Danish cruiserweight booked his place in the final with a unanimous points victory over Johnny Muller in June, while Lerena outpointed former World title challenger Roberto Bolonti to reach the final two.

Nielsen, who has set up camp in South Africa with his coach Joey Gamache and stable mate Otto Wallin, says he is confident of defeating Lerena and taking the lion’s share of the $100,000 prize money.

‘’It’s great to be back here in South Africa, and I’m looking forward to fighting at the Emperors Palace again,’’ said Nielsen.

‘’We’ve traveled a week earlier to give us as much time as possible to acclimatise. It takes time to get used to the altitude and thin air, but now we have the perfect time to prepare.

"Kevin is a fast and technically skilled boxer, but he hasn’t got the same punching power as I do. I will also be faster and sharper than in my first fight in South Africa, because I know what to expect this time.

"I predict another close fight, but I’m the stronger boxer, and I’m confident I will win. I haven’t travelled this far and trained this hard to lose. It would be easier to fight in Europe, but it’s great to test yourself away from home. Of course it’s a risk, but it’s also a chance to get myself known outside of Denmark.

“If I win this tournament, I will have made my name more known in the boxing world, and it will prove I’m ready to challenge the very best. My goal is to become World Champion. I want bigger names, bigger titles and more money! That’s my plan.’’

The final of the ‘Super-4’ cruiserweight tournament will be shown live in Denmark on Viaplay Fighting. For more information please visit https://viaplay.dk/fighting
