Melendez Inks With Cotto, Lands on 12/1 MSG Card

WBO Super Welterweight Latino champion and the eighth world ranked fighter: Jorge "Destroyer" Melendez (24-2-1,23 Ko's), joined  Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment, led by four-time world champion Miguel Cotto and entrepenur Héctor Soto. The hard-hitting punisher will make his debut under his new promotional company on Saturday December 1 at the world most famous arena: Madison Square Garden in New York, as part of the event "Showdown: Cotto vs. Trout".

"I'm thrilled to continue my career with Miguel Cotto’s company, which is the most powerful company in Puerto Rico and the most influential internationally. I am ready to work really hard and reach my goal to become a world champion. Fighting at Madison Square Garden in the same card as Miguel is an honor for me" Jorge Melendez said.

"We are very pleased to have Jorge as part of our company. He is a great prospect with a great potential. We look forward to working with his team and take him to the next level” Miguel Cotto said. Jorge Melendez won his WBO Latino title on October 29, 2011 against Eric Mitchell and he is coming off a big win against the hard puncher Milton Nuñez (24-5-1,22 Ko's) last August 31st at the Guillermo Angulo Coliseum in Carolina.
Never heard of this cat.
He was KO twice fighting WW. Since moving to SWW/LMW he is fighting better but still no quality name in his resume. He is all power but IMO he is way better than Jonathan Gonzalez…
