Mayweather: Rousey, call when you make 300M in 1 bout

By Edward Chaykovsky

On Thursday, WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. was confronted with an army of questions on UFC champion Ronda Rousey during his press conference to announce the September 12th bout with Andre Berto. He apologized for telling reporters last year that he had never heard of Rousey and confused her for a man.

"They asked me about Ronda and I thought it was a guy. I didn't know it was a female. I apologize. I wish her all the best," Mayweather said.

He then laughed when a reported asked him if would consider facing Rousey in the ring one day.

"Are you a comedian? You a comedian?" Mayweather said. "I am in the one hundred million dollar business, not the one hundred thousand dollar business."

Earlier this year, Rousey took a swing at Mayweather over his history of domestic violence following her victory over Floyd in being named 2015’s best fighter at ESPN's annual awards show.

"I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once," she stated during a televised interview.

When he appeared on ESPN's SportsCenter, Mayweather responded to Rousey's comment during ESPN's award show. While he took a jab at her, he also congratulated her on the ESPY award and praised the UFC.

"I've yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes," Mayweather said. "When she can do that, then call me."

"A while back I didn't know who Ronda Rousey was, so I'm pretty sure she got upset. I want to say congratulations to Ronda Rousey and the UFC. You guys have done a tremendous job and I've won probably six or seven ESPYS for Fighter of the Year. And I truly believe she deserves it. Congratulations to Ronda Rousey."
