Mayweather Fibs Court, Judge Orders Community Service

Floyd Mayweather has to perform 40 hours of community service for dodging a court appearance in a music rights dispute. A federal judge in Columbia, South Carolina, on Tuesday ordered Mayweather to perform the community service.

Judge Joseph Anderson instructed Mayweather to log his community service at the Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity Project by January 31.

Anderson wrote in his ruling that videotape showed Mayweather at a pair of Atlanta nightclubs during a time in September when he told the court he could not be deposed because he was resting after a fight.

Mayweather is being sued by Anthony Dash, who says a beat for a song he created in 2005 was illegally used at appearances the boxer made at World Wrestling Entertainment events.

Mayweather, 34, was acquitted in Las Vegas last month on misdemeanour harassment charges. It was alleged he threatened the lives of two homeowner association security guards in an argument about parking tickets outside his home.

However, his legal problems are not over yet. The most serious charges, stemming from a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend and two of their children in October 2010, could put him in prison for 34 years.

He is scheduled for a December 21 evidence hearing on charges stemming from the domestic dispute.

Mayweather, the WBC welterweight champion, is undefeated in 42 professional fights, and has won 26 by knockout.
