Mayorga: I Want Final Bout at Home, Then Retirement

By Carlos Boogs

Shortly after former champion Ricardo Mayorga was stopped in 6 rounds by Shane Mosley on Saturday night at The Forum in Inglewood, California, the former two-division champion he revealed that the end of his career is very near.

Mosley dominated the action until the 6th round when the brash Nicaraguan gained momentum and buzzed Mosley on a few occasions.  That momentum came to a crashing halt at the end of the round when a perfectly placed hook to the liver dropped Mayorga for a ten count.

After the fight the 41-year-old Mayorga admitted the end was near.

"I don't need boxing anymore. This is it. I would like a farewell fight in Nicaragua then I am done with the sport. I am proud of my accomplishments and what I have done for my family and for Nicaragua," Mayorga revealed.

......... until some other up-and-comer from 154-168 wants a name on his resume, and hands Mayorga some cash to feed his 10 kids.
