UNBEATEN cruiserweight hopeful Matty Askin will head the bill when big time boxing returns to Blackpool this summer.

The Central area champion will lead the line-up at Blackpool Tower on Friday 19th August against a selected overseas opponent.

Askin, 22, has won all ten professional fights so far and is rapidly closing in in British champion Robert Norton.

He said: “Topping the bill is your hometown is one of the best things that can happen to you.

“There is going to be an absolutely electric atmosphere – ten times better when I first boxed there because they were just four round fights

“Now they are going to see me in a ten or 12 round contest and I really appreciate promoters bringing boxing back to Blackpool.

“There are some good fighters in the area right now. Brian Rose is doing really well and the further I go the better I will become and bring big titles back to Blackpool.”

Askin last boxed in his hometown back in January 2009, but was still learning his trade in novice contests.

He added: “We are looking at an opponent, but all I think about is getting the win in front of my own crowd.”

The undercard will feature local prospects including welterweight hopeful Adam Little.

The show promoted by Robert Waterman will be televised live by Eurosport and ticket are available prices £35, £55 and £75 VIP from 01925 755222 and www.ticketline.co.uk
