Martin Rogan has given Tyson Fury’s promoter Mick Hennessy the green light to weigh in with a fight offer.  Rogan has a EU title tilt against Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev in the pipeline yet the 40-year-old former Commonwealth titlist has told the Belfast Telegraph that he would prefer to lock horns with new British and Commonwealth title boss Fury.

“I told Mick Hennessey that a fight between me and Tyson would sell out the Odyssey Arena in Belfast; it’s the type of fight the public is crying out for.  We could throw the Irish and Celtic titles in for good measure – it could be one of the greatest Irish heavyweight fights in history.  If the price was right, I would get in with Tyson instead of the EU bout,” revealed the 14-2 (7) brawler.

“The public would welcome the opportunity to see two Irish heavyweight fighters meet for the British, Commonwealth, Irish and Celtic titles all at once – it would be something special to be part of.  The promoters know this; so they should make it happen and I believe I would get the job done.”

Fury, 15-0 (10), won the British and Commonwealth crowns with a hard fought decision win over Derek ‘Del Boy’ Chisora on Saturday night in a fight which attracted over 3 million viewers for free-to-air TV network Channel 5, prompting hopes that boxing could find itself with a permanent home on terrestrial TV.
